After years apart, the star-struck lovers discover that every path they take leads them back together
Story
Clothier, a rebellious local teenager, falls in love with his classmate Jackie, but gang violence leads him down a darker, more destructive path. Malik Frikah, who plays the 17-year-old clothier in this film, was a world champion breakdancer at age 10. One of the characters wears a Rolex Daytona Ceramic in the 90s, but the watch wasn't released until 2016.
Mes MainsMusic Gilbert Bécaud Lyrics by Pierre Delanoë
. I was really looking forward to seeing this film directed by Gilles Lelouch with Adèle Exarchopoulos and François Civils, whom I really like. All the ingredients are there to make a French Bockbuster, but they missed it.
After a while, you wonder if you went to the wrong screening room
The first part is too long to show the scene of their new life and their love. Also, you start to feel frustrated that you didn't see Adèle and François after an hour. If this very long first part was supposed to exist, the film should have been released in 2 outings.
I found the adaptation of the screenplay quite weak
Because I think that, even if it was too long, it was good. The second part of their adult life is not credible in many ways and not exciting enough. In addition, I didn't feel any connection with this love story of reunion.
As for the ending, it was too easy
It's a shame because I feel like we missed out on a great film. Bravo to Mallory Wanecque as Jackie and Malik Frikah as Clotaire who give excellent performances.
