Story
In 1979, a group of young filmmakers set out to make a coming-of-age movie on a rural Texas farm, but when their estranged, elderly owners catch them in the act, the crew is left fighting for their lives. The day after X (2022) South by Southwest premiered, writer/director Ti West revealed that he wrote the prequel The Pearl (2022) during a mandatory two-week COVID-19 quarantine at his New Zealand hotel before production could begin on the film. A24 saw the script and greenlit the film even before production on "X" was wrapped. He asked star Mia Gott if she wanted to stay in New Zealand and film The Pearl, and she happily accepted.

When Lauren goes into the basement and turns on the light, there is a modern halogen bulb that wasn't available in 1979.. Maxine: I won't accept a life I don't deserve.. There are no opening credits. The title doesn't even appear on the screen until the end.
The characters are mostly unlikable
Act Naturally Performed by Loretta Lynn. Written by Vonnie Morrison, Johnny Russell, courtesy of Geffen Records under license from Universal Music Enterprises. Much more brutal than I expected. Decent horror elements, although it's a bit weird and far-fetched and requires some suspension of disbelief.
I love retro cinematography
They are typical fame-seekers who use alcohol and drugs and live a "free-spirited" life; with a holier-than-thou demeanor. They lie to themselves to get by, blurring the lines between what they call 'work' and in real life, but they mainly make virtue out of necessity. The film is mostly a peaceful experience. Not much to follow or dissect.
In summary, just sit back and enjoy
